Nail Reconstruction
Nail Reconstruction
Nail reconstruction is a specialised technique for restoring and aesthetically improving the nail when it has been altered, broken, injured, or shows deformity. It can serve as an immediate aesthetic “temporary solution” during the summer months or before a special occasion. At Podcare, however, we do not focus only on the final appearance: we assess the cause of the alteration and recommend the appropriate care plan so that the natural nail can recover safely.
When is it indicate
Nail reconstruction may be applied in cases such as:
- partial nail loss due to trauma
- broken, damaged, or thin nail
- deformities or uneven nail growth
- aesthetic restoration for a more natural nail appearance
In cases of active inflammation or infection, assessment is carried out first and, where necessary, appropriate treatment is provided beforehand.
How the procedure is performed
The procedure begins with careful preparation of the natural nail and the surrounding skin, including cleansing and proper shaping of the surface where necessary. Special nail reconstruction materials with antifungal protection are then used in order to achieve safe restoration with a natural appearance and durability.
Care & maintenance
After nail reconstruction, instructions are given regarding proper hygiene, avoidance of excessive moisture, and regular follow-up/maintenance, so that both the result and the health of the natural nail are preserved.
At Podcare, the procedure is performed by a podiatrist, with clinical assessment, strict hygiene protocols, and the aim of protecting the nail so that it is not further burdened or exposed to an increased risk of fungal infection.
