Ingrown Toenail

Ingrown Toenail (Onychocryptosis)

An ingrown toenail, also known as onychocryptosis, is a common and painful condition in which the edge of the nail grows into the surrounding skin, most often affecting the big toe. It can cause significant pain, redness, swelling, inflammation, and in some cases the formation of granulation tissue (granuloma) or infection.

At Podcare, treatment is provided safely and precisely, using specialized techniques tailored to each patient’s needs.

Proper Nail Trimming

• Nail trimming should not be based solely on the shape of the nail, but should also take into account the anatomy of the toe and the surrounding skin.

• In many cases, correct and careful treatment by a podiatrist provides immediate relief and helps reduce the risk of recurrence.

• After trimming, gentle filing is recommended to prevent sharp edges that may irritate or injure the skin.

Orthonyxia Treatment

Orthonyxia braces (toenail correction braces) are a modern, painless, and non-invasive treatment option for mild to moderate cases of ingrown toenails.

• They are applied to the surface of the nail by a qualified podiatrist.

• They gradually lift the nail away from the skin, reduce pain, and help correct the nail’s curvature.

• This method is suitable for all ages, does not interfere with daily activities, and often helps avoid the need for more invasive treatment.

Partial Nail Avulsion

• When conservative techniques are not sufficient and recurrent episodes or repeated infections occur, the minimally invasive procedure of partial nail avulsion may be recommended.

• Only the part of the nail that is growing into the skin is removed.

• This technique provides rapid relief, supports effective healing, and significantly reduces the risk of recurrence.

Do not let the pain persist.
